April 20  -7:00 p.m. Annual Meeting: Join Highland Park Conservancy for its annual meeting at the Olmsted Lodge on Reservoir Avenue.  We will be joined by special guests from the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy  -  Buffalo Park System, Executive Director Stephanie Crockatt and Director of Planning and Advocacy Brian Dold.  They will present their program on the Buffalo Park System, the first in the nation and now playing a leading role in Buffalo's renaissance. Prepare to be inspired. The meeting will also include progress on the Conservancy's projects over the past year and the election of its board of directors.

April 24, 2016 - 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.  Frederick Law Olmsted Birthday PartyMeet at the Roundhouse Shelter, Genesee Valley Park East for this annual birthday party, co-sponsored with the Olmsted Parks Committee of the Landmark Society, the Friends and Neighbors of Seneca Park, and the New York Upstate Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.

 April 26, 2016  - 7:00 p.m.   Poets Garden Tour:  The Poets Garden is a little known area of Highland Park, and is tended by volunteer master gardeners. It is like a sacred space at all times of the year, but particularly beautiful in the early spring. The tour will be led by some of the master gardeners who maintain the garden.

April 27, 2016 - 8:00 a.m.  Bird Walk: The Bird Walk is co-sponsored with the Rochester Birding Association, and will be led by a member of the Association. Bring your binoculars. If you have a bird guide, bring it also, but the Association guides will identify the birds for all the walkers. We will meet at the Conservatory.

May 4, 2016 - 7:00 p.m.   Initiation Meeting for Volunteer Weeders:  Everyone who wishes to volunteer this season to weed and tidy the Park is invited to join Mark Quinn and Noelle Nagle for a practical session. They won't teach you how to weed, but they will help you select an area or bush that you want to work on, explain what to do with the results of your weeding, and how to get and apply mulch. You will also meet some of our experienced weeders who will inspire you. We will meet outside the Conservatory.

May 7th and 8th, and 14th and 15th  Lilac Festival:  Please visit our booth at the Lilac Festival to learn about the Park and its history, to hear about our plans to restore the Children's Pavilion, and to provide your memories of the Children's Pavilion. Our booth will be near the site of the original Pavilion, and will feature the model of the Pavilion and a demarcation of the circumference of the original Pavilion.

June 16, 2016  Photographing Tour: Meet at the Conservatory with your camera in hand.Photographer Ira Srole will lead a tour searching photographic opportunities, with which Highland Park abounds. You will be able to carry home your own photographs of the Park in June.

July 9, 2016 - 10:00  a.m.  Collections Tour:  Edna Claunch, Highland Park Conservancy board member and founder of the garden, will lead us in a tour of the horticultural collections of the Park. At our Annual Meeting in April, 2015, Edna spoke on "Science in the Pleasure Garden: The Highland Park Collections," and led us on a "virtual " tour of the Park. On July 9, Edna will lead us on an actual tour of the collections.

August 2016 - Tour of the Water Bureau: This tour will be led by one of the members of the Rochester Water Department, which maintains the City's water supply. Public water supplies have come under scrutiny due to the disaster that is occurring in Flint, Michigan, and are a matter of concern to all of us. You will want to join us to hear about Rochester's public water supply. Meet at the Lower Gate House, across from the Conservatory.

September 10, 2016  - 10:00 a.m. Landscape Architecture Tour:  Joanne Beck, Highland Park Conservancy board member, landscape architect, and advocate for Rochester's parks, will lead this tour of the Park's unique landscape design and structure.  Joanne will also discuss the wonders of the Olmsted landscape architecture legacy. Meet at the Lamberton Conservatory.

October 8, 2016 - 10:00 a.m.  Tree TourSusan Maney, the new horticulturalist with the Monroe County Parks Department, will lead our annual tour that shows off the Park's trees shining in their fall colors. Meet at the Lamberton Conservatory.

November 2016 -  Tour of the Veterans' Garden:  One of the veterans who maintains the Veterans' Garden will lead us on a tour.  What better way to honor Veteran's Day!  Meet at the Veteran's Memorial parking lot o f South Avenue just south of Highland Avenue.

December 7, 2016 - 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Annual Holiday Party:  Join us for the 8th Annual Holiday Party at the Lamberton Conservatory!  We will have refreshments, conversation, and the opportunity to see the Conservatory decked out in all its holiday finery. The Lamberton Conservatory is located at 180 Reservoir Avenue, Rochester.
