Summer Landscapes of Highland Park: A Guided Tour

  • meet at Gate House 2 399 Reservoir Avenue Rochester, NY, 14620 United States (map)

Join us for a morning walk through the beauty and enduring design of Highland Park during the height of the summer season. This guided tour explores the park as its trees, gardens, and landscapes reach their fullest expression, offering a chance to experience one of Rochester's most treasured public spaces at a particularly vibrant time of year.

Along the way, we'll explore the rich history of Highland Park and the vision of Frederick Law Olmsted, whose thoughtful design continues to shape the visitor experience more than a century later. We'll highlight notable landscape features, historic vistas, and some of the park's remarkable "legacy" and specimen trees and plants that contribute to its unique character.

Whether you're a first-time visitor or a longtime admirer of the park, this tour offers an opportunity to discover the beauty, history, and horticultural significance of Highland Park through the eyes of those who help steward and interpret it today.

The walking tour offers a chance to experience the park as it was intended—balanced, immersive, and evolving with the season. It will last approximately 1.5 hours and traverses winding paved paths throughout the park. Please note the tour requires the ability to walk and stand throughout.
